About Me

Hi my name is Nicholas de Graaf and I have recently recovered from anxiety, hypomania, mania, psychosis, bipolar disorder and depression and I would love to help you recover from your own mental health challenges.

I see MAWS incorporating, life coaching, surfing, camps, meditation, yoga and fitness into an established non for profit mental health group. MAWS will be a safe environment where people can come to discuss their problems whilst having fun and being supported.

MAWS mental awareness with sports was created during my recovery from anxiety, hypomania, mania, psychosis, bipolar disorder and depression.

My friend who was also suffering from his own mental health challenges decided we should go back to the sport we love that is bodyboarding and head to Bali to partake in a camp where we can be coached by professional bodyboarder Ryan Hardy.

I knew from previous interviews that Ryan Hardy had suffered from his own mental health challenges and I decided to sum up the courage to speak to him about mine.

We would talk about our challenges and achievements of our own mental health journey whilst enjoying our favourite sport.

Having a discussion like this whilst enjoying a sport I loved brought happiness to me in a time of darkness and from that moment on I decided to create a business in order to help others with their mental health challenges.
