My son Charlie did his first ever surf lesson with Nick this morning from MAWS. He really enjoyed his company & how he taught him. Nick was really patient, I could see charlie gaining confidence throughout the lesson. He loved it so much we couldn't get him out of the waves. On a personal note charlie shared with us on the car ride home he felt instantly connected to Nick & told us he was one of his safe people. He told us while they waited for waves they had great chats. I really feel Nick has a special gift with kids & am so grateful he was able to connect with charlie. We can't wait to book another lesson!Ange & Ian Griffiths 🤟💦🙏
Wow!!!!!! We are so glad we met Nick! 🙌🛹🙏What an absolute legend and so inspiring for my two young boys! Nick has been giving my boys (7 & 5 years old) private skateboarding lessons for a couple of weeks now and they have picked up skateboarding so quickly and their confidence is booming! My 5 year old is a little gun thanks to Nick. They really look up to Nick and can’t wait for their weekly sessions with him!! Nick also hosted my boys 7th birthday party today. The boys all had THE BEST time! What an awesome afternoon full of fun, lots of laughs, drills & challenges!! The boys all loved it! They were smiling from ear to ear. Can’t recommend Nick highly enough!!!! Thanks Nick - you truly are awesome and we’ll see you next week! 🤙🤙🛹🛹🙌🙌💙💙🙌🙌🛹🛹🤙🤙

MAWS provides a safe environment for children of all ages attracting mostly 6years to pre teens. Whilst not to overly Mentally Health focused he teaches children the main principles to avoid inner conflict and anxiety using confidence building exercises, positive self talk and perseverance through skateboarding. He's teaching these life skills to an otherwise un targeted group and giving them the chance to develop these much need skills prior to their teenage year's. An excellent social group where everyone is included with the potential to keep on growing. Bring your children along and watch their confidence and pride grow as their abilities do.

My daughter has attended MAWS group for a while now I have seen her blossom she has been more aware of her mental health and has become so passionate about learning to skateboard can’t reccomened nick enough!! He works so well with the kids! Can’t wait to watch this amazing group soar!!
I attended my first catch up with these guys tonight. Was so good to sit and chat with like minded people in a nice friendly environment. Then we had some great laughs "attempting" to play botanic golf. I would recommend that you try and get along as there is so much to be gained by just talking among ourselves in a non-judgmental and open way. With the increase in popularity of groups like this we will get the stigma around mental health removed and help getting people to talk about how we can all support each other. Look forward to the next catch up 🙂
Nick has created something truly special with MAWS, never have I found a more supportive or friendly group of people than I did at my first Meetup. I suffer from terrible social anxiety nearly didn't go, but Nick gave me so much support and I'm so glad he did because now I feel like people like me are being represented and not forced into silence. The MAWS group was so supportive when I joined in the conversation about Bipolar, and it was the first time I felt like I wasn't the only one in the universe experiencing these battles. I can't wait to attend more MAWS events!
great to join if you need more support mentally even after all the bloody psychologists and psychiatrists
It was no surprise at all to me to hear that Nick De Graaf created the MAWS group! I met Nick when he was 11 years old and advertised his 5$ an hour dog walking service on a community notice board. When Nick came for the "interview,"it did not take me long to realize what a special young man he was. Yes, he had a remarkable entrepreneurial spirit for an 11 year old, but, even more, he had a great desire to help others. Nick reached out to kids who were challenged, in one way or another, and tried to make a difference in their lives, often doing this by drawing them into his love of physical activity and sports.I also discovered that Nick and I shared the same birthdate, November 30th, and that we were both born at 5:45 am! Clearly, the connection was deep. So, of course, I was sad and upset that he has had this struggle with mental illness, but, at the same time, I am so moved by his desire to reach out and help others who are struggling also. MAWS is truly Nick - it combines his love of the outdoors, physical activity/sports and, most of all, his desire to be of real service to others. Congratulations, Nick, for creating MAWS. I am so proud of you!
